Some Work

I haven't really posted all that much of my work since I've finished it off.

So...here are the highlights. Haha.

elastic warp and faux pintucks
Elastic extra warp creating a pintuck effect

elastic warp
Elastic extra warp. It has pulled tighter on one side than the other, hmm.

elasticated weft
Elastic weft. I like the contrast between the flat and rippled areas.

danish medallion with rope
Danish medallion technique with varying thickness yarns.

danish medallion with elastic
Danish medallion technique with thick elastic. Created a really interesting texture.

pintucks
Mohair pintucks.

mohair linen texture contrast
Mohair and linen. Like the difference in texture, hairy mossy mohair and the rough linen.

floats and dip dyed warp
My favourite, floats and a dip-dyed warp.

Back to the Loom

Yes, I'm back to weaving again. I put on perhaps my largest warp yet, 30 inch wide and 14 foot long.
I can't wait to see how it turns out, but I still have the long task of threading it up!
Here's a few photos of it going on. I love the dip-dyed stripes!

Neglect.

I've been so horrendously busy these past few weeks.
Just handed in my first (and penultimate) project of my final year.
I am relieved, but sad. Though incredibly excited for January/February and the project I have planned, if I pull this off, then I'll be so pleased.

I have a whole host of images to post from a recent trip to Oxford. I'll have to do it tonight when I'm safely tucked up by the fire.

Lack of Communication

I managed to move back to Nottingham relatively hassle free.
We just had to survive the past week and a half without the internet. Ha, I say it like it's one of the most difficult things to do. The novelty has almost worn off already. I feel like I ought to be getting on with some drawing, or painting.

Three days in to a new year and I already feel snowed under with work. It's nice to be back though, to feel motivated towards something.
This terms theme: Native Americans.
I'm about to go surfing the blogs of the world for some inspiring images.
I'll finish with a photo of the first page of my sketchbook.
(Small and crappy quality...all i have is my webcam!)
